Enabling MCP for Documents

First, you have to enable MCP in order for Craft to setup an MCP server for your documents. Then, you use the MCP URL to connect to the server from ChatGPT.

Click the “Imagine” tab in the sidebar

Step 1

Open the “Imagine” tab
Click “Create Your First MCP Connection” button

Step 2

Click “Create Your First MCP Connection”
Configure MCP connection settings

Step 3

Configure your MCP connection with a name.
Click “Add Document” button

Step 4

Click “Add Document” to select which documents this MCP connection has access to.

The MCP URL that will be used to interact with your document is now displayed at the top.

Adding an MCP Connector in ChatGPT

Create a new connector in ChatGPT and use the MCP URL from Craft to connect the two services.

A ChatGPT Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise, or Edu subscription is required to add custom apps. On Business, Enterprise, or Edu plans, admin privileges are required.
Select the Apps section and open Advanced settings

Step 1

Go to ChatGPT’s Settings, select the “Apps” tab and click the “Advanced settings” button
Enable Developer mode and create a new app

Step 2

Enable the “Developer mode” toggle and press the “Create app” button
Configure the new custom app

Step 3

Give the app a meaningful name and paste the MCP URL from Craft. Set the Authentication dropdown to "No Auth", check the consent checkbox and press "Create".
Enable the app in the chat

Step 4

In a chat, press the Plus button, go to “More” and select the app you just created
Start using the app in the chat

Step 5

You can now start using the app in this chat
